In addition to Arabic language courses, Sijal also offers a variety of academic seminars in both Arabic and English. Taught by Sijal faculty or guest scholars, these courses are university-level with assigned readings and obligatory student participation. Courses can vary in length and format, from short 5-session courses to full semester courses.

Sijal's seminar offerings have a different focus each semester, however, it primarily lies in the humanities and social sciences, especially in the fields of history, anthropology, literature, geography, political science, and interdisciplinary area studies. The courses offered span different disciplines and often either focus on theoretical frameworks or on area/regional knowledge.

In an effort to create a space for the exchange of ideas and perspectives, seminars are open to all interested parties, including both local and international students. Through analytical discussion and critical thinking, our hope is for content courses to enrich the intellectual lives of all Sijal students.
